like people have mentioned is an ebook reader great. also, think about maybe a daisy-player or audiobooks. Those always make me happy to receive. otherwise, some music might make him happy too.

I’m now legally blind due to diabetes and I was always an avid reader. I still am with the vision I have left. My iPad and Audible subscription are now things I can’t imagine living without. It depends on his level of impairment but it could make a world of difference for him as well. The accessibility options on the iPad can’t be compared to anything similar imo.
Edit for grammar

An ebook reader where he can enlarge the text, and/or use text to speech, maybe? Either e-ink or tablet form. I've heard good things about Kindle's newest offerings and they're pretty user-friendly.

A fishing rod is always a good choice for a fisherman. Include a bag with the most colerful bates you can find.
