If they don't already have one, Google nest is a good choice because it can do all kinds of things like make phone calls, play music audio books, and a host of other things. I use mine too call NFB Newsline all the time. A great place to look as well is maxiaids.com and they have all manner of things including games for someone who's visually impaired. I've used them in the past myself and they had great customer service. Merry Christmas!

Wow I will be sure to ask him or his wife so I don’t spoil the surprise! Thank you so much for your reply and happy holidays and merry Christmas

What does this person like to do? What hobbies do they have? What tasks are they having the most difficulty with? What kind of gift do they want?

Unfortunately, there isn’t really a good gift for the blind because we’re all different. We have different levels of vision, and have difficulty in different situations. We also have different interests and hobbies. For example, you might find me a nice Braille recipe book, and it would be fairly useless because I don’t use Braille.

So, as with gift-giving for anyone, you have to start with the person. If you can tell us what that specific person is looking for or interested in, I think we’d be better able to give suggestions.

Whatever they like really but if you don’t know then tactile art is cool, people 3D print “paintings” that you can feel.

That sounds so cool where can I get something like that
PrincessDie123 1 points 1y ago
Local artists make them with 3d printers, you can probably find some on Etsy or ask if you can commission one from someone with a 3D printer

A nice pair of shoes? Some makeup if they're a makeup person? You know, we're people too.

I know you are people too.... I’m asking because I have an uncle in his late 50s and wanted to get him something useful I didn’t come here to be shamed

Edit: who got hurt hurt about this I know he is a person or else I would of bought him dog treats hahaha
ukifrit 2 points 1y ago
what does he like? You could give him a braille card game if he likes card games. Without knowing much about him it's hard to recommend something.
I'M sorry for the agressive words. I'm just kinda annoyed at all these posts asking the same question. It's not about you personally.

Its okay, some of us are here quite often. We need to understand that people are new to blindness and asking their questions y'all will find ansers.
A friend who is over 40 recently got a model of a Star-wars ship. He have an opportunity to feel how it feels, after watching the movies.
Terrible-Claim-9006 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Wow! That’s so cool to hear did someone make it for him or is it something you could buy? I think that’s really cool. I realize now that it could be a toy ship or some sort of collectible, but still wanted to ask anyway. Luckily my uncle wasn’t born blind so he got to experience and see the movies but I know he enjoys listening just as much! Thank you for your reply

Its a collectible I guess he can play with it. But having it on hand while binge watching the movies could be awesome..

Good question, I feel horrible because I love him so much but as Far as I know he absolutely loves Star Wars and Star Trek! He is living in Florida in his late 50s.. he is getting his first service dog soon.. I know he likes a certain chocolate but he has diabetes maybe I could get him a small amount! I really need to start calling him a lot more I wish I knew more. My mom said a bottle of Bacardi but that won’t do it for me.. he is a really cool dude I know he likes the daredevil (the blind super hero). Thank you for replying.. it has helped me think of a lot of stuff I could get for him just talking to everyone on here really helped ❤️
