Newsletter Platforms (self.Blind)
submitted by swagzillasixtynine
Can anyone recommend a newsletter platform that is fully accessible for screen reader users?

I’m currently playing with ConvertKit and Ghost.

Keeping in mind that I’m still new to this, here is what I’ve found.

ConvertKit is mostly pretty good with the exception of a few bugs and inaccessible elements. I’d say it’s about 60% of the way.

Ghost has an amazing back end that works really well with a screen reader but the front end is not great. Most website templates are garbage when being navigated. Unlabelled buttons and headings are common.

I also checked out SubStack but the first heading on the homepage wasn’t labeled so I just said fuck it and moved on.

If there is anybody in here that writes a newsletter or does email marketing I’d love to know what you use and how it is going for you.

That’s a shame. That was going to be my next investigation.

Take a look at ConvertKit. As I play with it more and more I’m realising that It is actually pretty good. After a bit more experimentation, I’ll take the time to do a more in depth post 😊

Would a list serve work for you? A simple Google form for to register, and then sending a mass e-mail to subscribers.

I don’t think that would work. I imagine It would be difficult to manage unsubscribes and list hygiene. Email services have a lot of other perks I’d me missing out on to. Thanks for the suggestion 😊
