legally blind (self.Blind)

so, i’m legally blind. my vision is 20/200, and thats what its been for all 16 years of my life. my ophthalmologist retired years ago, and me and my mum have been struggling to find a decent one since. the most recent one i went to said i was farsighted and i was written off as having 20/80 vision… my vision hasn’t improved or gotten worse, i’ve just gotten better at helping myself.

Yeah, that makes sense. Having the same level of vision for many years definitely means that you will get better at using it.

I noticed that you flared this post as "Seeking Advice". What were you seeking advice on?

just like, what i should do to have them see (heh) that my vision is not as good as they think it is. its so frustrating going in only for them to TELL ME im farsighted because of the shape of my eyes

It sounds like either one of the doctors made a mistake, or your vision has improved over time.

Maybe you should get a 2nd test done?

i’ll see what i can do. my albinism has resulted in many eye problems, such as nystagmus, strabismus, photophobia, and a pale fundus, so i dont know if its possible for it to actually get better

I know the feeling. I have almost to a T what you have. Plus I have keratoconus. Honestly the will get better once you find an ophthalmologist. Contacts have come a looooooong way.
