Video editing software recommendations? (self.Blind)
submitted by Blazefication
Hey guys, does someone here have experience in video recording and editing?

I decided to start a YouTube channel about a month ago, and so far I've recorded with an iPhone 12 both for audio and video. Recently I purchessed a stereo set condenser mics and I was wondering what's the best way to record audio with the mics, record video with the iPhone and then sync the audio and video together.

I will be using an audio interface connected to my computer to record the audio. What would be the best way to go about syncing the audio to the video? Is there an accessible software I can use to sync them together or is my only choice to ask a sighted friend?

Here's my channel if anyone's interested to check it out:

I regularly merge content from directional microphones into a single video feed, or sometimes even produce tracks with multiple audio streams when I'm providing recordings of gaming campaigns with sound feeds from different players or POVs. I do almost everything with FFMpeg and have never had any issues. takes a bit of practice and trial and error with codecs, encoder settings and such, but when you've nailed your configuration it's a very smooth process. I can even outsource the conversion to my NAS - it takes ages compared with a media PC, but I can set it off from my phone when I'm miles away with no loss of quality.

if you have a Mac, you'll want to invest in Final Cut Pro. It's fully accessible and is the best editing suite out there. You can also use Quicktime or Audio Hijack to capture the audio from your mics, and make sure to give yourself a clap or sound at the beginning of recording so you have a noise to sync the video and audio together.

If I understand correctly, you want to record the video through your phone, and the audio through your computer, right? Basically, using your phone as a WebCam?
If so, it would depend on how your phone is hooked up to your computer. Since the iPhone comes with its own internal microphones, you would end up with two different audio tracks. To make sure, everything is synchronized, you would need to copy the video from your phone to your computer, and extract the audio from it. You could then use a program like audacity, to synchronize the two audio tracks, before merging it together with something like MKVToolnix.
