Friend, I don't know anything about your situation. I wanted to say I join with you and having vision problems since birth. I was born with congenital Glaucoma and had my first surgery at three days old. I don't know what will happen with my eyes either. If you can I'd ask your doctor about a second opinion and bring up your concerns. My docs have always been open to my concerns. Good luck!

I know what it’s like to be worried about the vision loss. I’ve worn thick glasses since I was 3. I currently wear -12 contacts with glasses over them for additional correction and to help the astigmatism and still barely see enough to get by. I should be wearing -14 contacts, but my insurance will only cover up to -12. I’m in my late 40s, so I have presbyopia too. I recently got floaters and also have sensitive eyes and headaches from it and have lattice degeneration, so I’m being monitored by a retina specialist. Definitely ask your eye doctor about your vision loss and what the long term looks like for you. I have asked and mine says that I shouldn’t worry about the prescription getting so high that I will go blind. Certainly there are other factors that can cause that and everyone’s case is different. I was referred to the blind center in my area because he wanted me to see a specialist there and possibly get some tools to help my vision loss, but I’ve had the worst luck with the people that work the applications and have had no follow up. You can talk to your doctor to ask if that would be a good resource for you.

57F here, I have -11.5 in one eye and -9 in the other. I have lattice degeneration and am at high risk for glaucoma. My vision has been stable for about 10 years though. Your optometrist or ophthalmologist can probably let you know what your risk is. Mine warns me every year about possible retina tear/ detachment.
