in the early days of description they seemed to feel that more was better. Always. Latterly, they'll hold off and describe on repeated choruses of songs and such in musicals so you can actually get the lyrics, too. I loved action movies as a teen - Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Willis etc. But i sometimes had to consult scripts to be sure I'd cottoned on to every nuance, although I can't think of a film where I couldn't get the overarching plot despite not being able to see what was happening.
Just as an aside the community tends to use the word "see" as it applies to movies. Listening tends to be reserved for the radio, music, podcasts etc.
