That is a tricky answer for me but it was the season finale for Mr. robot, or better said the series finale.
It was December 2019 late December and these series finale just aired so I went ahead and download it so I could watch it after work. I took a nap after work as I normally do and then I watch the season finale series finale. And shortly after that I ended up having a coughing fit that ended up causing my left eye to start bleeding. The vision in my left eye was practically perfect and we were on top of things regarding using lasers to treat my veins so I wouldn’t bleed anymore my eyes because I already lost my right eye earlier in 2018. As soon as I saw that floater in my left I knew it wasn’t good, I was able to call my retina specialist and get an appointment immediately.
The thing about this new floater is the following day it started to dissipate a little bit but I went to my appointment anyway and he told me I needed surgery immediately. I had surgery on 31 December 2019.
At first my vision was fine but blurry but that was to be expected because of the oil he put in my eye. But slowly over time my vision kept getting darker and darker and darker and nobody knew why I even got a second opinion on it. And before you go blaming my retina doctor he’s actually one of the top retina specialist in the area. I don’t want to give away any information about him but I do trust him entirely.
We decided to do surgery again in May to see if we could resolve the darkening vision I was having. Aside from the darkness I could still see decently well. So the last thing I saw was the prep room for surgery I was there with my family and the nurse and then I got knocked out by the anesthesia.
24 hours after they remove the shell the best way to describe what I could see is folding a shirt three times over and trying to look through it basically I could only make out some points of lights but that’s about it. I could make out the shape of my phone screen and I can make out the shape of windows and doors with windows on them but the best way to describe it would be looking through a really dark dark murky water. My vision just kept darkening and two surgeries later we still haven’t had any positive results.
Totally blind now but I do have healthy eyes so I’m just waiting for the future to get here. Whenever a artificial retina or synthetic retina or a retina transplant becomes a thing I should be able to regain some of my vision back but we will see only time will tail.
I hate myself for having poor control throughout my life and only getting my diabetes under control in the past five years. Aside from that I’m actually really healthy. I always reflect back and think and maybe if I didn’t have that surgery done I would have some vision now because that floater was dissipating the very next day..
Not the answer you were expecting but this is was just my experience.

Honestly, probably not going to get good responses on this. Only a little over 10% of blind people are fully blind. Of those, many were born with blindness, or lost sight very gradually over time. So people who went very suddenly from seeing to not seeing are very much in the minority. In those cases, the last thing they saw was probably a terrible and life changing accident, so they're unlikely to want to dash off a response for a Reddit thread.
Honestly, the few stories of sudden blindness I've heard about are not cheerful stories, and you probably don't even really want to hear them.

ok well this is an actually helpful and not time wasting response thank you

also i wasnt forcing people to share their stories, they can if they want to

Hey, if they want to share, more power to them. I just don't think it's likely.
Edit: You got a pretty decent story there, though a sad one.

At risk of depressing people, it was the anaesthetist putting me under before the operation that would 'restore my eyesight.'

Similar Thing happened to me ME1 month and two weeks ago I can't see anything at all all this year was most depressing Christmas ever

The look of disappointment on the face of my ex when she realized my vision wasn't going to get any better. She was disappointed in me for not getting better, not disappointed at the situation.

Don't really know because I was probably off my head on prescription painkillers at the time, which you might discover is a pretty common thing.

The last game I played was NieR Automata, back in 2017, and the last thing I remember IRL was, the variety of colors of the town and stuff like this.

What happened??
TurtleProphet4203 points1y ago
Basically I have a lot of problems from birth, congenital cataract, micro-ophtalmia, iris dammage, to name a few, I knew that this day will come so yeah, I enjoyed my time with a little bit of vision.

Ty for the answer man. Sorry to hear that. Can u still kind of see? Like can u still play games and stuff?
TurtleProphet4202 points1y ago
Unfortunately I can play only games like Hearthstone + Hearthstone access mod, Mortal kombat, stuff like this, and I use audio description, I can see only lights and some shades, and colors but with a lot of white, like, when I try to watch the night sky I see it gray, not black like it supposed to look like.
