To prevent eye strain, every 20 minutes, people are supposed to look at something 20 feet away, for 20 seconds, when lookimg at things close up. If I can't make out anything that far away, how can I do this?

My right eye is not completely blind but everything is darker and hard to see, they’ve chalked it up to be optic nerve damage since birth. I had to wear a patch on my good eye as a kid to try and strengthen it but obviously that didn’t work out..
