submitted by soundwarrior20
Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe. I'm running macOS Big Sur. I want to be able to copy the folder and file paths of files and folders to the clipboard and have this option in the Finder context menu permanently how do I do this please?
thank you for your help everyone :)

"While in the right-click menu, hold down the OPTION key to reveal the “Copy (item name) as Pathname” option, it replaces the standard Copy option. Once selected, the file or folders path is now in the clipboard, ready to be pasted anywhere."

When you say the right click menu do you mean the menu that’s accessed bye pressing control shift option M? I tried pressing and holding option whilst in this menu but a copy path option did not appear

The "right click menu" is a menu that appears on an item when you click it using the secondary button on a two-button mouse or two fingers on a Magic Mouse or the trackpad on a Mac. If you do not have "Right-click" enabled on your mouse or trackpad, it is CONTROL-click.

So to copy the file path, you add the option key to the mix,

Option-right-click would be OPTION-COMMAND-click with a one button mouse.

Select the path, right-click to bring up the menu, press and hold the option key, and choose “Copy (item name) as Pathname”.

How do you do this as an actual blind person with screen reading though?
