Looking for feedback and collaboration on open source 3d printed tactile diagram project (self.Blind)
submitted by MythsBusted
I am a sighted software engineer. One of my customers is blind. A coworker and I have been developing an open-source process for using a 3d printer to make tactile versions of engineering diagrams (e.g., powerpoint slides, Unified Modeling Language models, Simulink diagrams).

The project is hosted on Github $1.

I put together a $1 describing the diagram creation process. It has some screenshots and photos that are not accessible, but it may still be useful.

I would welcome any feedback. I am particularly interested in:

* Ways to improve the workflow and documentation
* Help establishing or finding heuristics for tactile diagrams
* Suggestions of approaches to allow visually impaired people to print their own diagrams

I am blind and have a 3-D printer.

I will play with this at the weekend and give some feedback

Wow!

I wish if I could offer any help or suggestions, but, the thing is I have never used or even seen a 3d printer yet.

But, some suggestions for the diagrams:

1. make sure that the lines are significant, so that blind people can easyly feel them.
2. Important points throughout the diagram, I don't know, in Economics we had some point of intersection or maxima or minima as important points, and if those points are marked with additional marking, such as an extra dot with the line, then it could be helpful.
1. Ill add if i could think more.

Well worth sharing this with the folks over at /r/accessibility. They'll definitely get a kick out of this.
