I know it's not the same, but in addition to being VI, I also have speech problems (they come and go at random and I have zero control).

Hi. I don't know anybody who is blind and has selective mutism, but I do have a very good friend who has a stammer. I know these conditions aren't alike, but they both involve speech so I thought I'd respond anyway.
