Cosmetic Eye? (self.Blind)

I know people who've lost an eye entirely could get a prosthetic one implanted so nothing looks amiss. Is there something similar for those who still have their eye in place? Due to glaucoma and a rejected corneal transplant, my right eye is entirely blue---pupil and all---and I can't see through it, so I wouldn't mind having something that'd cover it up to make it match my left eye. Does something like that exist?

Yes! There are scleral shells and cosmetic contact lenses. Scleral shells are fitted and made by ocularists, the same people who make prosthetic eyes. They would cover the front of your entire eye (pupil, iris, and white). A cosmetic, opaque contact lens would just cover your iris and pupil. From what I understand, the most common drawback to either of those are sensitivity issues. Some people also elect to have their blind eye (usually if it's painful) removed and an ocular implant put in. The prosthetic eye then goes over the implant.

Thank you! :DD
I'll ask my eye doctor about this the next time I see him

Where do you get a scleral shell?

They are custom made by an ocularist.

Are you going to get another a transplant in that eye?

Nope, I don't think it's worth it considering the glaucoma took most of the sight from my right eye. Doing another one would just make it slightly less blurrier but not enough for it to be any help. While the eye isn't painful 24/7, sometimes it randomly acts up and hurts a heck of a ton and the doctor said this was probably due to the rejection, I don't wanna go through that whole thing all over again.

I see. I had a transplant in 2020 and if mine rejects I don’t want to go through the process again so ima just live with it if it happens. Also how often does it hurt? And when it does hurt is it just light sensitivity or does the actual eye hurt itself?
