Safety vest/T-shirt for sports? (self.Blind)
submitted by letspaintthesky
So, I want to try some sports again (like I don't know, visit a roller rink and see if maybe I could get back into skating because I really liked it years ago) but the idea makes my mum nervous. I thought she and I would both feel better if I could get something like a hi-vis or a bright t-shirt that says 'vision impaired' just to be safe.

Does anyone here use one, and where did you get it/how did you make it? I don't want to pay $30 plus a small fortune for shipping (australia tax) if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

Honestly? Slap some neon duct tape on the back of a shirt and write LOW VISION in huge letters on the tape.

Plus! Now you can match outfits and not have to worry about any flashing lights bouncing off the reflective tape.

I do this for ice skating and skateboarding! I also tend to wear a bright yellow pin that says LOW VISION on the front of shirt as well.

I have a couple for when I’m at the ice rink (I’m a figure skater). One is from British Blind Sport, one is from Inclusive Skating, who run ice skating events for skaters with disabilities. Inclusive Skating have a division in Australia so may be able to help with sourcing something.
