Looking for gifts/ ways to help my boyfriend who could be going blind soon.(self.Blind)
submitted by sadeotoole
I won’t get into much details as it is his privacy but we have recently discovered that my partner m(19) might be going blind in a few years. I want to get him an anniversary present for our 3 years that he could see and feel, so if it ever does happen, he’ll be able to feel it and remember what it looks like. Im not even sure if there are gifts like that other than paintings but just wondering if any of you guys would know. Also any other gadgets, toys, action figures that would be nice if he ever does. He is having a hard time coming to terms with it and I just want to do everything I can to support him and make his days a little brighter.
Thank you.

I think there are some previous questions like this asked on this thread before, you might wanna search and find them as well.
Some suggestions: if he can see little now, may be a good time to begin with O&M, getting familiar with screen reading softwares etc. There are books on those things, and it will help him if he is willing to read and learn. Tactile figures are interesting, but, hmm, I am not in to them. Not sure about any gadgets, he can continue using his existing smartphone and computer if he learns to use screen reading software.

Well traditional art isn’t very accessible no unless you ruin it and make modifications on it. But otherwise some people do stuff with other materials, wood, or this guy even took coins and made necklaces.
Does he like cars maybe a model of a car or something like that I’ve seen some pretty nice detailed models of ones. I wouldn’t say it was a toy.
I mean you can go with more practicle gifts and stuff that will help him with his vision impairment. But yeah.
