iPhone question (self.Blind)
submitted by yoyo2718
When I was using an old iPhone se I was able to ask Siri to open specific settings, like “hey Siri, open accessibility settings” and it would go right to the accessibility menu. I just got a new iPhone and it will only go to general settings no matter what submenu I ask for. Is there some setting I need to tweak? This is so frustrating! Tia

I have a support agent from Apple working on this, so I can take point, the more reports we provide the higher the escalation.

I used to work technical support for software company. Earned a bonus for getting a bug escalated to the programmers.

So I know how to document bugs.

All $1, and opening apps is one of the cases that gets processed locally. The first generation SE had an A9 SOC so requests were still sent to Apple for processing, however the second generation SE has an A13 SOC that enables local processing so that might explain the difference.

Makes sense.

I’ve always found that feature hit or miss. I would say most of the time it works as expected but yeah, sometimes it just opens up the settings app without taking me to the specific area I asked for

Asking Siri to open Voice Over settings will open that, which will get you close.

Same thing here when I asked siri to open passwords it would do it but you’re right it doesn’t now.

Does not seem fixed in iOS 15.3.1. But if you ask Siri to open VoiceOver settings you can then exit that submenu to get into the Accessibility menu.

I can’t even make Siri work on my iPhone XR and I get super annoyed when software updates displace my accessibility settings (reverting large text back to small, overriding my swipe/tap patterns, etc…)
