This is why accessibility is important from the ground up. Look up ARIA guidelines to get more understanding the backend of what's happening etc...

Role="Status" is one of the most important parts of a page and if it's properly used it can make huge difference to screen-reader users etc...

Also if you have a minute (2 hours) google WCAG guidelines

Screen readers will announce the percentage value of the progress bar if it is implemented correctly along with playing a sound and haptic. Safari in on iOS for example when using VoiceOver will have a clicking sound that indicates that a page is loading, sometimes accompanied by a percentage value. Safari in MacOS will do the same, plus the way it announces loading progress is customizable through the VoiceOver utility.
Other system processes use the same functions and announcement styles, such as copying large files between folders in the Finder, installing apps and updates, etc., all are announced by VoiceOver.

I used Windows 3.1 and dialed up with a 28.8k modem. In comparison today's stuff happens quickly ...
