Yeah, you touched on one of my pet peeves... when people raise their voice and talk to you louder. I just think to myself, "no dude, wrong disability, I'm blind not deaf".
The other one I hate is when people just assume I'm useless / homeless. I remember onetime I was walking into a coffee shop around 5am and a homeless guy asked if I had any change. I told him no, but he's welcome to come with me and I'll buy him whatever drink and food he wants.
He came with me into the shop, I got him squared away with what he wanted, then proceeded to order what I wanted. The cashier first asked if I had any money, I'm assuming thinking I'm homeless as well. The homeless guy took off and sat by himself, and the cashier proceeded to schold me for helping a homeless guy out because she views him as a nuisance to her work life. This was just a little after I returned to Canada after spending 8 years in NE Thailand so I was still pretty used to living in a Buddhist society, hence was faily appaled and just said, "what?!?! everyone needs to eat".
She sticks to her guns that he's a nuisance, and proceeds to tell me something like, "you have an excuse because you can't work, but those people have no excuse, they can get a job if they wanted". I was so infuriated, I didn't even say anything, and just walked away. Some days I'm sure I make more in a single day than she makes all month, so no idea where the fuck she gets off saying something like that...
