NVDA and Visual Studio Code? (self.Blind)
submitted by tace8
Hey, I'm new to NVDA and coding. I'm trying to learn how to do both. I have a basic level of competency in NVDA, but know next to nothing about coding. I installed Visual Studio Code today, but NVDA isn't reading what's in my Python file. I'm a bit confused because whenever I type things in say a word or excel document, it has no problem reading it back to me. Unfortunately, even when there is text in my python file/Visual Studio Code it just says 'blank' over and over again. Anyone know what the issue might be? Thanks.

Edit: I figured it out (I think), you press alt + f1, then ctrl + e, this optimizes it for screenreaders.

I think you need the vscode nvda addon

Yeah. Alt+f1 will help you with all the shortcuts. The Command pallet will also be useful, as you can sometimes type and search for commands if you don't recall or haven't set up a shortcut for them.

Also, you should perhaps try to learn NVDA a bit on its own; doing both at once seems like a tall order. YMMV.
