Any suggestions for magnifying TV? [USA] (self.Blind)
submitted by blazblu82
I'm wanting to use my laptop through my 55 inch TV. I tried it out last night and getting around Win11 was no big deal since the OS has many options for readability. However, I'm also a PC gamer and one of my games has such small type, it's impossible to read unless I'm within a couple inches of the screen. When I move in a couple weeks, I will have to use my laptop through the TV. Plus, moving away from PC monitor to TV will be much more comfortable in an easy chair versus slouched in front of the monitor like I do currently.

Any suggestions on what I could wear? I've seen some options, but I'm not willing to spend roughly $200 and the cheaper versions I've seen on Amazon generally have poor reviews.

TIA!

Drop your resolution or increase your dpi. That will blow everything up. As well some games have text size options. Others will hAve mods potentially. But best global options are resolution and dpi.

Not EVE Online. I can increase in game UI size and text, but I lose functional space to play the game properly. Been with this game since the early 2000's.

I really need something I can wear to magnify tv without compromising gameplay and graphics.

My best option for now is to use the 24 inch monitor I have.

Does it have dual monitor support where elements with text can be on one screen and the rest on another? Otherwise I may suggest talking with your doctor to see if they may be able to work your script better for the activity (not knowing your current situation).

Is there any tts mods or perhaps is there a voice attack script for eve?

Game developers do not allow mods.

I could do dual monitors, but it would the laptop screen plus external monitor and laptop has a 13" screen.

Yeah, may talk to optometrist about this situation.

I'm confused. Are you going to have trouble reading on your laptop, or while sitting so far from the tv? You could either move closer, change the resulution — which can sometimes make type bigger for you — or Windows Magnifier can be a great option too. You can activate it with windows + and turn it off again with windows Escape. You can make it full screen, or lens view — among others — and I have it on good authority — as a visually impaired gamer — that it will work to resolve your problem.

I am familiar with Windows magnification software. However, with a game like EVE Online, I need the screen to be not magnified in order to play it correctly. Same with any other game, really.

I setup my laptop on my 55" TV last night. Although I didn't have any issues navigating around Windows 11, I did have trouble when I tried playing a game at 1080p. The text was so small that I couldn't see it until my face was with a few inches of the TV. I can't get my recliner that close. I did increase the game UI as much as possible; however, all that did was take up space within the game and I couldn't play it properly. That's why I was asking for some sort of wearable magnifier I could use so I wouldn't have to sit so close.

If there isn't a solution, then I'll just keep my laptop on the 24" monitor I have. The place I'm moving to is far smaller than where I'm at now and I'm trying to condense.
