'All I want is for an employer to have faith in me' Amrit Dhaliwal is blind and has been applying for jobs for the past five years. But she's come up against many barriers - including being told by one organisation she can't even volunteer there because their office "isn't safe" for a blind person.(bbc.co.uk)

It's tough! My husband was turned down from multiple volunteer organisations for a variety of reasons. They always seem to come up with some excuse. 🙄

It’s likely laziness, inflexibility and fear. One of my students told me a professor asked him to drop the class because he “couldn’t do math without sight.” What an ass.

I don’t have a job, that’s because my family didn’t really encourage me to get one growing up. If I had it my way, I’d work as a plumber, or someone who goes on the sea and finds the rubbish in it and helps with that.
I’m probably gonna end up living off of disability, I don’t mind that, but if I could see I could do all these jobs.
I don’t wanna go to college, get through it, and then be told sorry we can’t hire you. In my opinion; it’s just not worth it.

Then do it. I encourage you the plumber thing is more plausible the trash on the sea thing is definitely harder.

Nah :) I’m to lazy :)
TechnicalPragmatist1 points1y ago
That would definitely be your burden then.

Not at all, i don’t mind it.

It's true. I could do so much if I could get transportation. But they won't let me teach anymore because --you name it. It's an excuse.

how does this lady come across visually; as in, to a sighted audience?
