Saw him on BBC breakfast this morning

You know in a way I'm sort if glad it happened as awareness/interviews/post have exploded because of it

He seemd like a nice enough guy when I met him, but has turned into a proper media hound.

He came across well today, nice and calm on bbc today,

Yeah, he did seem fairly reasonable. But his last few media appearances seem cherry-picked from dog-cam footage just to show british society at its worst.

Nobody comments on the fifty thousand times the guy took an escalator without a problem, you see?

giving examples isn't cherry picking. Would you prefer he didn't highlight these social issues and lack of education at all?

Nothing against the good doctor but blind folks get bad interactions like that from time to time.

I am pretty sure a media campaign isn't going to change the mind of anyone who would demand a blind person and service animal team get out of the way on an escalation. You have to know you are an A hole at that point.

It's not about changing the mind of that particular demographic, it's about bringing greater awareness to everyone so that next time something like this happens, maybe someone witnessing will understand that it is wrong.

I swear this guy is in the media even more than Boris Johnson

Wonder how much attention some of these people want.

I think it’s human nature to ruminate and remember bad and scary things that happened to us, so it does make sense that he’s going to report those.

Also I doubt that any of the media rags this guy tends to go to (the Daily Mail for example) is going to be very interested in running a high-profile story about a blind person just getting on with life and being just like a regular human.

I have no problem with him reporting stuff like this and raising awareness, I just wish he would choose some of his media outlets a little more carefully, or at least maybe go to a wider audience.

Also I haven’t actually seen a lot of his appearances recently, but hopefully he does choose his words well and not come across too whiny.
What I don’t want is an us and them mentality, we have enough identity politics right now as it is in the UK.
What is boils down to is don’t be a dick.
Also I have had somebody almost shove me and a previous dog down an escalator because they thought it was beer o’clock.
I was so busy trying to hang on to my dog and make sure he was okay that I didn’t have a chance to punch the guy out.
Luckily members of tube staff were on hand and his friends actually tore a strip of him so I didn’t need to do much.
