My suggestion is to not make it about their vision, or lack thereof.

I would really suggest that you think about something that doesn't make a huge mess.... Or even not fo it at all. I know that I make tons of unfortunate messes everyday that I then have to figure out how to clean. On bad days the frustration of tripping over something, knocking a glass of water over, or picking up the wrong bottle of something and only noticing when my good tastes horrible can send me to tears (and these things happen on any given day).

Maybe use this year to talk and laugh about what you might have done and see how he feels about pranks like that first. He may have already mentioned to your mom about how he feels about April fool's ... Or clear an idea through your mom.

This is rather a joke than a prank, but last year, a friend told me that now they're making special tandem bikes with extra much space inbetween the two seats so that it's more covid safe. I believed her for a split second before realising what date it was :P

maybe change his phone ringtone to some very silly song that you have as an inside joke? or change your and mom’s name in his phone to something very exaggerated silly when it reads out loud, but he still knows it’s you

unscrew the door handle. Turn it around so you have to lift it to open. keep awall chart of how long people pound on the door screaming "let me in! let me in!".

This is the trick I usually do on anyone sighted or not.

1. Fill a cup with water.
2. Get a paper towel that will cover the top of the cup completely.
3. Put the paper towel on top of the cup and try to make a good seal.
4. Quickly flip the cup over so the open part is on the counter or table.
5. The water should still be in the cup. Some of it might have leaked but you can clean that up with another paper towel.
6. Get rid of the evidence. Pull the paper from under the cup or just cut the parts that are showing.
7. Get them to unsuspectingly grab the cup. Tell them to put the cup away or bring it to you.
8. If done right, the water from the cup will go everywhere.

The only problem with this prank is cleaning up before your mom sees what you’ve done.

I think the type of prank depends on his type of humor…
