Thanks for all the awesome responses under my last post regarding physics.
I’m learning Spanish and while I’m primarily using braille, it would be cool to be able to also comprehend it coming from the rapid speech of a synthesizer. Is there an add on that would enable NVDA to read Spanish words with the correct pronunciations? JAWS sort of does this. However, instances where the screen reader is able to detect when to make pronunciation changes are pretty sporadic. I would also love to hear about learning language techniques you guys have found to be helpful. I’m getting really into it and I’ve decided I definitely want to become fluent. Currently, I’m doing formal practices in the morning and before bed. I also attempt to translate my internal thoughts in Spanish when I have the available vocabulary in my repertoire to do so. I’m constantly adding words to my database and I’ve also started listening to Spanish music. However, I’ve read that television programs are a great way to learn a language because of the visual context that aids in your understanding of what’s going on. I was wondering what you all would do to get a similar experience without the visual context?
Thanks :)

Duo Lingo is accessible on IOS. It's an effective program, you just need to be constant in the use of the app and practice.

you don't need an addon for this, only a synthesizer that supports Spanish. if the option to detect language is turned on in NVDA preferences\Settings > speech, it will switch automatically. If you want finer control, look at making a configuration profile which will let you toggle Spanish mode with a keyboard shortcut

I use duolingo. The web version is accessible too. They have stories now where you can hear the individual characters talk to each other in the language you are learning, as well as look at the text of what they are saying. You can press enter on individual words if you don't know what they mean and it will display the english translations next to the word.
