Does anyone else accidentally trash their room? (self.Blind)
submitted by Mesh1202
I'm legally blind & have a habit of misplacing stuff, and so over a short amount of time (read: typically 4 days) I end up pulling all the sheets off my bed (to see if I left what I'm looking for there), scrambling the previously carefully arranged items on my desk, messing up the neatly folded clothes and neatly organized school supplies in my drawers, etc etc--- all while I'm looking for my headphones or my glasses which I had tried to put somewhere obvious so this exact thing wouldn't happen

It's something I've noticed that doesn't bother me as much as other things, but I'm curious if I'm alone in this?

Yep. Also the prevalence of ADHD is significantly higher within the VI community.

OH I ABSOLUTELY FELT THIS!! my poor bed gets the sheets ripped up a lot. Especially if I’m smoking by the window (where tf is my lighter!!) and same for homework with pencils

Learning some organization techniques may be useful here. Learn to find a place for everything and be deliberate and systematic.

It's a constant struggle my friend.

I feel like people in the low vision community have to become super organized otherwise we look messy as hell lol.

Can you buy a chest of drawers? I have one and I find it really useful.

The top drawer has my cane and other things like that, My second drawer has my toothbrush and that kind of stuff, and the third one has wires and things I don’t really use.

My room is perpetually a mess. I keep the floor clear, but that's about it. Ever lost your THC vape in a tangle of XLR cables behind a server rack? I have. That was a fun 2 hours of swearing /s
