Advice about one note with nvda? (self.Blind)
submitted by chuckejeesus
I'm trying to learn microsoft OneNote with NVDA, I have a a couple questions.

How do you move between note containers? I found that alt + up and down work sometimes, but sometimes just kind of moves the page down instead and doesn't work, I'm not sure why or what it's doing. Is there a way that I can jump between note containers, aka content blocks, aka text boxes, on the same page? Like a shortcut key?

And, does anyone with more experience know if note containers are just annoying to use with screen readers, like if that feature should just be avoided, or am I just doing it wrong?

Another thing is, usually, when I press NVDA plus control plus end, the review cursor goes to the bottom of the text. When I am typing in a note container And I press that, The same thing doesn't happen. It doesn't work and doesn't announce anything or make any sound. I've only found this to happen in the note containers in OneNote. Does anyone know why or, more importantly, what I can do as an alternative key instead to get the review cursor to the bottom of the text?

Also, has anyone found one note generally inaccessible with NVDA for a screen reader? The one person who knows about it that I have asked said that some people say it works fine, and some people say the opposite. Is it just something you have to get used to and then it works fine for note-taking?

I tried using it, but gave up. Far as I can tell it's a lot like MS Word but it lets you group documents together, so I just use MS word and group documents into folders.

I found that pretty much all the Microsoft stuff is accessible but this specific program seemed as if its function very differently from other programs. I did mess around with it once using NVDA but there’s so many other options that I moved on. Good luck

Huh, I see, thanks. Tho would you mind sharing what are some good programs similar to it that are good for organizing note taking, or what you use specifically? I haven't been able to find a good screen reader accessible one, especially ones that are free
