Bedazzled Cane Recommendations (self.Blind)
submitted by yamallama0330
Hi everyone! I am going to prom at the end of April and yk just bc I’m blind doesn’t mean I have to look ugly 😭 I want to bedazzle my cane into a dark red since that’s what my dress is, does anyone have any recommendations for bedazzling a cane? Thanks!

You are not the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal, just because you can’t see, does not mean you can’t be seen.

How about dark red washi tape?

Blame my husband who’s favorite number is 42 and he always has a towel.

A coworker of mine used to run a workshop regarding how to bedazzle a cane. Check into a dollar store for stick-on rhinestones (especially the ones that come in a row, so it would be easier to get them straight). They come in a variety of colours, but also multi-coloured ones too.

I've also seen one that used glow in the dark puff paint, so it dried raised up and they would do custom patterns. That one didn't come out as well, because the paint didn't stick as well.

Depending on the condition of your cane, you can need to clean off the surface of the cane first (use a wipe, or a bit of rubbing alcohol on paper towel) to get rid of surface dirt.

There is a red glitter duct tape that’s a pretty nice deep red color. Amazon link: Duck Brand Glitter Crafting Tape, 1.88-Inch x 5-Yard Roll, Red (252504) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GO529JU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_Z26HBFGQ4RY6S27PTTXV

I got some of this brand of duct tape to bedazzle my cane with. Not glittery, mine is galaxy print. I ordered a custom blue and white cane from Ambutech, and used the duct tape as accents. It seems pretty durable, but also can be peeled off at need (I had to restick some because I put it on wonky, and didn't have any trouble). Granted my plan is to have a permanently blinged up cane, but I imagine you could peel the duct tape off the next day (or just have a cool red glitter cane forever).

THIS. They sell metal encased rhinestones in strands. Fancy! You could use clear / white / red thread or string and wrap it around between each rhinestone. It would look and feel awesome. Knot the end and then unwrap the next day. Whatever you end up doing it will be a fun memory. Enjoy your dance!

Hey, here’s what I did. I took an old NFB cane, covered everything in red sequence tape. And tied a few ribbons around it. Apparently it looked really good.

Sorry but NFB 🤮🤮🤮

i wonder if they make like velcro strips of rhinestones that you could easily cut to size and remove afterward—even though you should totally keep it blinged out after prom!

You can buy strings of sticky rhinestones.

I think the strings of sequins would be the easiest and most effective.

The curling ribbons used for gift wrapping are also good.

I have a sheet of stick on jewels that I use to add bumps e.g. on my washing machine. However applying a number of these would be a huge faff

Probably would work best on a rigid cane
yamallama0330 [OP] 2 points 1y ago
That’s what I’m thinking

That's a fantastic idea I love it. Good luck!

Thanks!!! I tried to bedazzle it and it turned out SO bad so I’m like I cannot bring an fed up cane to prom LOL

My daughter’s O&M helped painted hers with purple glitter nail polish!
