"Oh, no I'm just saying, I know it's your office because of the smell."

"My office stinks???"

"...I didn't say that. It just has a...particular smell. Kind of like you, actually."

"So now I stink???"

"No but you do smell like this office."

"This office stinks!!!"

It might add problems. What if someone in the workplace allergic?

I don’t know how everyone else navigates their homes, but I know where everything is, it is not like the stairs move around like at Hogwarts.

Outside I find scents are inconsistent, sure the bakery around the block smells great, but they don’t bake bread 24/7. They do large batches in the morning and there is no noticeable yummy smell in the evening.

Smells tend to mix together, do they not? There are only so many scents you could spray the place with to mark your dominance and possession before you could no longer find anything.

Besides, what would your product offer that I couldn't get by just pissing on th — um, I mean, spraying around a cheap perfume bottle?

There was actually an interesting book I read for a seminar paper (that I then failed to submit ...) which collected some studies proving that perception of food is even more visual than we think. Professional chefs were not able to identify most of the common ingredients they had to taste-test if their eyes were covered. Obviously this does not qualify for us blind folks, but it does prove that smell is not the most efficient sense.

My guide dog sure uses his nose a lot and this could add a whole new dimension to guide dog work!!! Omg

I think it would be too much hassle. If I’m doing an Environmental Assessment in a learners home or work place I might note smells of locations to create a landmark, but I’m not a dog I can’t use my sniffer to navigate by.

Blind user here, I don’t think my nose is in tune enough to help me navigate the world. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think I use my nose at all to navigate especially in an environment that I’m used to like the home. I have always had a great sense of smell even before I was blind. Who knows maybe subconsciously my nose is helping me navigate in my home but I don’t see how.
