Need help from VoiceOver users (self.Blind)
submitted by rumster
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but can I get VO users to go to this page $1 and try to play the video that's embeded on the page. If you get it to play, please let me know what IOS version you have and how you got it to play. I do not want you to go to Youtube.com to play the video, but play the video on the page you are on.

Backstory, we noticed recently that we are unable to play embed youtube videos on IOS ver 15.3.1. Seems like this might be a new issue but we're unsure now since we do not have previous versions of IOS that could have worked.

Please let the community know your findings.

Got it to play by either triple-tapping with one finger or double-tapping and holding with one finger when VoiceOver is enabled, which correspond to the long press gesture when VoiceOver is disabled. I'm on iOS 15.3.1.

I agree that the current behavior is not very intuitive though, and I don't know whether a long press is required to play the video when VoiceOver is disabled.. If it is not then this is likely a bug.

ios 15.3.1 I just kept swiping right until I heard the play button and double tapped on it. The video began to play automatically.

It's not an issue with iOS, since I just tried your page and other pages with embedded YouTube videos in them and I've had to triple-tap the play button on devices running iOS 15.3.1, 14.8.1, and 13.6. Have you tried regenerating the embed code from YouTube and updating your page with it? Also, don't forget to add a title attribute to the embed iFrame tag.

Its not my site its just a random site I pulled since it's a global issue it seems. I never rememeber it being triple-tap

Yeah, just tried it on my personal site and have the same issue. This is definitely something breaking from the YouTube embed and how it's working with mobile webKit. Super annoying. I'll have to try a re-embed and see if that does anything.

Edit: Just re-uploded my page using the new YouTube embed code, and it still requires a triple-tap to play the media on all versions of iOS. Definitely a regression somewhere in the YouTube or WebKit chain since it definitely was working with a normal double-tap before. Sigh.
