How guide dog friendly is Ireland? (self.Blind)
submitted by [deleted]
Hello there r/Blind!
I’m a Dutch Guide dog user, and I’m planning my summer vacation right now :)
Currently my friend and I are looking at making a trip through parts of the UK and Ireland.
I’ve been to England a few times, and have had great experiences with how the general public reacted to me as a blind person. I was still using my cane back then, but I’m more than comfortable going there with my little guide buddy :)
However, I’m curious as to what people’s experiences as a guide dog user have been in Ireland?
Are people understanding? Have you been denied access a lot? Any advice or thoughts are welcome!

Hi there. I’m not visually impaired, but was born and raised in Ireland. I’ve seen many folks with guide dogs in pubs and restaurants and in public transport too. Most supermarkets also have guide dog charity collections. I would say you’d have a good experience. I hope you enjoy your trip.

I would think most western country would be good on this front.
