DOT vision test (self.Blind)
submitted by Ok_Seaworthiness4127
So due to an injury I recently became blind in my right eye, but am moving to Oregon for college and am going to need to get an oregon DL for residency. Can I still pass the vision test? If not, is there anything I can do to still be able to get a license? I have a license in a different state currently but just haven’t taken the vision test since the injury.

If worse comes to worst and you can't pass the vision test, you can get a State ID card instead of a driver's license. I can't drive because of my Epilepsy, so I've always used a State ID. Any service which requires a license for identification will accept a state ID instead.

The internet has told me that Oregon requires 20/40 or better corrected in at least one eye. So, as long as you can see at least 20/40 (with glasses if necessary) in your remaining eye, you'll be fine.

I think if you go to an optometrist (even better a low vision specialist), you can ask them...mine was very aware of what was needed visually to pass that test.

And honestly depending where in oregon they have pretty good transportation. Portland has excellent transportation, and a license is not needed so usually state id, passport, real id from the state is enough.
