Anyone got experience with the Hable keyboard? (self.Blind)
submitted by DHamlinMusic
As the title says I am wonering if anyone here is familiar with the Hable device in the sense of real world usage. I am looking at getting one, and my state’s CBVI is checking if they can get a tester unit for me to try out beforehand but I would guess not.

I’ve heard of this and it’s interesting for sure just not sure if I am the most interested in this.

I've used it for a month or so on iOS.
No benefit to a regular BSI user - it's louder, physically separate from my phone and apart from gestures from navigation has no wider input abilities than Braille Screen Input.

What do you mean by "louder"?

the buttons are very loud mechanically. I've been brailling on a screen for so long, actual mechanical clacking was very off-putting.

Ah, would have assumed the buttons are digital.

nope. basically it's just an 8 button bluetooth keyboard with a built-in braille translator. it's a clever idea - particularly for those who struggle to input braille on a touchscreen.
you have to learn commands in place of gestures too. it's great when you've done that, but quite a learning curve to use the thing to its full potential.
