Living in Seattle when blind (self.Blind)
submitted by Aronfeliciano
I’ve heard it’s incredibly accessible. Has anyone ever had experience living there? I really want to move there and I have two people that I’m going to move with so income won’t be too big of an issue. We will also be saving for a year for moving expensive because I do live in the Midwest.

I’m moving to the Eastside for work later this year! I posted $1 which attracted several useful comments from people in the area.

I live in Woodinville which is 40 or so minutes outside of Seattle but go there every other week. It's been my experience that it's very very traffic heavy but otherwise OK in certain areas. If you get in touch with state services transportation for the blind isn't that bad

Smelly bums, and needles on the sidewalks. Gotta watch out for those. Amazon just moved a bunch of workers out of downtown because it is so bad.

That sounds fun but sounds like frisco too. Lot of big cities are encountering these issues.

Seattle is pretty shit. It's pretty accessible, but trust me, you really don't want to live here.

Why not other than the homeless issue?

The homelessness issue encompasses a lot on its own. Drug use is through the roof, the streets are dirtier than they used to be, crime rate is higher than it used to be, etc etc.

It's not *just* a homelessness issue, it's a drug use issue, it's a cleanliness issue, so on and so forth.

The political and social atmosphere here is also pretty bad, it's like California but more rain. With that said however, this really is only an issue if you lean more conservative on political and social issues.

An example: the police here are demoralized and don't have enough people or funding. I think this is bad. Other people think it's good, and they want to take even more money and personnel from them.

But don’t all big cities in a way have this sort of issues?
