I'm from Germany and there is one thing here that stands out from all other countries: the Blindengeld. Every legally blind person (legally blind here is not 20/200 vision like in America, but 20/1000) gets 660€ (720 USD) every month just because. This is a leftover from the first world war where they were many soldiers who had been blinded by posion gas. Also the health care system pays for every accomodation you need, may it be mobility training or a guide dog. When you go to university, the social welfare office pays for technical equipment. We have many specialized institutes for blind people to train for jobs like IT, physiotherapist, translator...
These bumpy things on the floor (how would you call them in English?) Are required to be at every new train station or street crossing that is built, just like traffic lights that beep when green or talking bus station displays.
You will want to go to a city though, because public transport, though much better than in the US, is still not as good in rural areas.
