Scared that I will go blind. (self.Blind)

Hello friends. I had glaucoma in my left eye for most of my life, last year I had to get the eye removed because of an infection and have been living fine since then. I went to the doctor for a checkup today and was told my good eye appears to have a larger cup size than usual. They said the pressure is fine and it looks the same based on previous photos, but just the cup size is larger. I am very scared, the quickest that the hospital I go to can see me is in a month. The eye doctor today said "I hope it's not glaucoma, but I just want to make sure." Even though everything looks normal I can't help but freak out. I don't know how to feel for the month before the visit, my eye feels no pain but it's still scary.
Edit: saw doctor at a hospital. They said no current signs of glaucoma so that’s good, but eye pressure is high. Will need to take drops to reduce pressure and then I will go back in 6 weeks

You're going to be okay. I know it's scary but you're going to get through this. Even if you go blind you'll still be okay. You'll still be you. You'll still be loved.
I went blind recently and I'm having a blast. I still dance at the club, I still make fruit smoothies with my granddaughter, I still live a fulfilling and happy life. It's different than the life I used to live but it's not worse. Not at all. It just takes some getting used to. Blindness hasn't been a tragedy, merely an inconvenience.
Hopefully you'll keep your vision, but even if you don't you're going to be okay.

It's been proven that daily 1 hr meditation can help lower eye pressure. So maybe try to meditate a bunch and see if you can get yourself to relax. It's gonna do you a world of good, going blind or not.

I'm sorry. I hope it works out. I guess I would think that if they really thought it was something very concerning, they'd suggest you see your doctor sooner. Your pressure is still good, so that seems positive.
I also have Glaucoma.
If you have an eye hospital near you, could you ask the doctor who saw you for a referral? Maybe that could get you in sooner.

The eye doctor today didn’t show signs that it would be too concerning, but still said I need to keep my good eye as close to 100% as possible.
The doctor I said today said she would make calls and try to get me to see someone within these 2 weeks so hopefully something comes up

I am sorry. I have had glaucoma all my life, a retinal detachment and between 2019-2021 lost a bit of vision n in my 1 good eye due to edeema caused by an IUD. The thought of losing that good eye completely is frightening. Just get a 2nd opinion if you need to.

Going blind is unfortunate but it is not the end of the world, you can still live a full and fulfilling life as a blind person. It doesn’t stop because you can no longer see.
You can go and do many things I have traveled around my city and county extensively. I have traveled to 6 different states all alone with minimal help. I have gone food hunting. I’ve traveled 38 miles to visit a friend on a train. Life is still quite doable only needs modifications.

That’s pretty encouraging that you’re able to do all that even without vision. Can’t let anything stop you from living life!

Nope and sometimes even if it’s challenging. I think pushing through is a important factor. The motivator is the end result. You can’t let a disability or a challenge stop you like that, in my estimation.
And thanks I hope it gives you some hope I hope it does encourage you I don’t say any of it to brag or look cocky but to say I can so can you. Learn to cope and adapt and you’ll have just as fullfilled of a life as anyone else or more.

No problem. If you ever want to talk about it or want some tips and pointers let me know. I’ve been blind a long time and love helping. Just remember never give up. You can do it, learn to adjust but not change unless you have to. Change but don’t be you, don’t give up on life. You can still do your job you may just have to adapt it dependent on what job you have but a lot of jobs can be adapted. And don’t give up! You can do it.
