The only reason why I don't chat online anymore is because I find current chat clients for MacOS to be unnecessarily uncomfortable to use with VoiceOver, which is likely a user problem since other blind people seem to use at least Discord just fine. I've considered implementing a chat client myself, but I heard that Discord disallows third-party clients except for bots, and even if that wasn't a problem I've been really busy with other projects for quite some time.
My problem with chat clients, even the accessible ones, is that they do not provide features that I think are necessary to offer a good chatting experience to blind people. An ideal accessible chat client should, in addition to the regular chat stuff, be able to do the following:
1. Allow us to mark and recall specific locations in the chat history so that we can ask the client to announce every message posted since each mark;
2. Use the ability mentioned in the first point to automatically mark the first unread message so that reading everything since that point is just a matter of pressing a key combination;
3. Produce a sound whenever a new message arrives instead of announcing the message so that it doesn't interfere with our typing feedback;
4. Provide a shortcut to quickly jump to the input field;
5. Ensure that text navigation commands such as Option+Up/Down to move to the beginning and end of the current message being typed work;
6. Provide a quick way to read the message that I'm currently typing without having to move the caret.
These are all things that sighted users take for granted thanks to being able to quickly shift their attention between the input field and the chat history at any point.

I am very happy with the accessibility features of my phone my tablet and my computer.. In fact on my phone and tablet I can do almost anything you can do just as fast as you can do it at least almost just as fast which I think is pretty spectacular.
Sure there are little bugs here and there but nothing major or groundbreaking.
If I could change or add anything I would make it so there are more gestures for voiceover. For example why is there a shortcut to copy text but there isn’t one to paste text. How about changing tracks are going back a track why isn’t there a gesture for that in voiceover. While we’re talking about VoiceOver shortcuts why isn’t there a special shortcut to skip an ad on YouTube. I can find a skip ad button just fine but sometimes they move it around one day resize a video window and it makes it a little bit more harder to find. How about a backwards Z pattern to skip an ad since the Ford Z pattern is used to undo.
