Accessible Language Apps? (self.Blind)
submitted by Apocalyptias
Hey all! My wife is trying to find a VoiceOver accessible app for one of her clients to learn English.
She has experience with DuoLingo but it isn't very friendly with VoiceOver.

Don’t bother with Fluent Forever. Not accessible and they expressed no real interest in making it so when I reached out to them during my trial period.

May I ask what is wrong with Duolingo? I use it to learn German and I also use VoiceOver.

Apparently for spanish speakers wanting to learn English it isn't very accessible.

I’m using to learn Spanish right now. I agree, it’s a bit clunky but sadly it’s the most accessible one I’ve came across. Once you know how you’re supposed to use the different exercises it’s fairly doable though.

Thanks for clarifying. I only have experience with the English interface and I have no idea why the Spanish one would be different.
Maybe stick with stories? It's easy to get to, second tab counting from the left, it's mostly dialogue and you just click 'continue' inn the bottom right. Sometimes you got to click on a word but they are all labeled and VoiceOver should read them out correctly.

Memrise and Clozemaster, two flash-card-based language-learning apps, are fully accessible with VoiceOver. Though they have a couple of unlabeled buttons, they work well, and are free.

Yes, I should’ve also mentioned a good flashcard app too. There was one I used to use a while ago called Flashcard++. Unfortunately though, it seems the developer has abandoned it. it by far was the most comprehensive and VoiceOver accessible flashcard app I have come across. have yet to find another Flashcards app that comes close. I’ll try the two you mentioned.g
