digital banking service in thumb print. (self.Blind)
submitted by Active-Particular841
I am from Nepal . banks and financial institutions operated in Nepal have been discriminating people with visual impairments while opening the bank accounts and accessing digital banking services / facilities

People with visual impairments have been denying access to services and facilities including digital banking and internet banking on the grounds of not being able to sign. Therefore, we plan to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court demanding that banks and financial institutions must have to allow persons with visual impairments to allow use digital banking facilities such as mobile banking, internet banking, etc. in thumb print without any additional and unreasonable burden.

Do blind people in your country have access to digital banking services in thumb print? Has the government or regulatory body implemented any act, law, policy or program in your country to provide digital banking services to the blind in thumb print? Is there any court precedent to help with this? If so, please explain in detail.

I haven’t heard of anything like this. Most people who are blind here, as far as I know, know how to write something to sign their name, even if they don’t otherwise read or write print (many people go blind later in life, after they’ve developed a signature, and continue to sign from memory, even if they can’t see what they’re writing).

I feel like I have heard of people signing with an X if they can’t write their name, but I’m not sure if that’s actually legitimate, or just something I read in a book once. A clear thumb print would probably be more secure in that case, as I assume it would be harder to counterfeit.

I am in Canada, btw.

A lot of banks in the U.S. allow for "E Signing", which is just typing a name on a computer after agreeing that serves as a written signature.

Our banks the big ones are totally accessible I am able to log in to mine on my iphone with face id. I imagine fingerprinting wouldn’t be that hard apppple does it. Someone would have to help if not accessible but I am sure fingerprinting could be ad

I lost my vision very early on in life and didn’t see much in the first place but I know and have learnt to write a few things including signing my name.
