Because I’m not a cartoon character Because I get enough attention from strangers with a guide dog Because my accessory of choice is a cape.
Next question.

People don’t wear sunglasses to hide their eyes. They were them because sunlight hurts. My husband wears an eyepatch because not wearing it gives him a headache. I wear glasses that have prism, prescription lenses and are photo chromatic to turn dark in sunlight.
We don’t do things to benefit other people, but to help our selves. Exactly how would a bucket on our head help us? How does does this ‘cool’ factor help us?

I sometimes do but I never admit it in public. Oops did I say that out loud.

1. A lot of us have remaining vision (around 90%). Why put eye patches over our eyes if we can still see something without them?
2. I'm blind, not crazy. When would you see someone walking down the street with a bucket on their head and say "coh' they look cool!" apposed to "wtf is that nutter doing?"?
3. The reason many of us wear dark sunglasses or eye patches is because on or both of our eyes may be sensitive to light. We don't do it to look the part; in fact, I'd actually love to be able to go outside and not look ridiculous walking down the road in the rain with shades on. I don't want to reinforce the stereotype unless I have to.
4. I just want to quote two of the other commenters: "we are not animals in a zoo" and "I'm not a cartoon character".

Everyone is being too nice. You're an asshole.
Or you could be severely lacking in education but I'm fairly certain you're just an asshole.

OP Is japanese, where they are very poor towards people with limitations. If you've ever been in Japan, you would see the complete lack of accessibility, and the attitude that people should stay home if they have issues.
Couple that with the teen obsession with anime eyepatches, and a complete lack of sensitivity, and you get this thread.
Astonishing though that one of them would actually dare to start a thread suggesting we be anime characters.
But yes, OP is an insensitive asshole, and their country of origin doesn't excuse them.

Please stop.
We are not animals in a zoo.
Frustratingly if one searches eye patch in English, the results are teen anime fans, and people going on a Disney cruise.

Are you blind yourself? I'm not & I notice that those with vision loss already get a lot of unwanted attention when in public. Their habits catch the attention of the sighted around them & people stare at their cane or guide dog. People want to walk on egg shells around the blind & treat them as if they are lesser than, incompetent, etc. They are grouped into a tiny little box because of stupid stereotypes like the ones you mentioned. Yet, you want them to get even more (unwanted attention) by embarrassing & making a fool outta themselves??? You're either a dumbass or a trolling prick. Contain your thoughts until you educate yourself. Otherwise, your opinions are invalid.

How come you don't do it, OP? I mean, nothing is stopping you! Well, beyond not seeing anything anymore. But you'd look cool; isn't that worth it?
The "classic" isn't to use sunglasses. It's using a white cane or a guide dog. Those are our signals to everyone else that we are blind, and they are *useful* besides. Those that wear sunglasses tend to do it for the same reason that sighted people wear them: to help protect against the sun. That, in fact, is why they are called sunglasses.

Ok OP is japanese, or at least lives in Japan.
There is a weird obsession with anime characters, and eyepatches, in Japan. Hence my comment about search returns anime.
It doesn't excuse them though, they are still an intensive idiot.

my perscription sunglasses are probably the brightest orange out there and i love them. during the winter nights i do pull my beanie down over my eyes caz it's nice and warm. and i have walked around with a bandana covering my blind eye. i just generally don't care if others are watching and what they might think of me. 3 minutes of conversation are mostly enough to show them that i'm just an other person trying to live my life and if not i wish them a good day and walk off.

I wear sunglasses because I’m severely photophobic but don’t want to block my remaining vision. They’re also prescription because I want to use my remaining vision in as many situations as possible.
