Does anybody know of an organization or school for the blind, in U.S., that accepts old canes to be recycled or repaired? Have a few I've collected over the years. I cringe at the idea of just tossing them in the trash.

Your local Lions Club might take them.

Thanks. I didn't even think about them. I'll definitely start there.

Wow mine don’t last long enough to be donated.

I know in Canada, the red cross accepts donations of used medical devices for assistance in daily living. I think it is more mobility aids though such as walkers.
I am not sure if the American equivalent to the Canadian Red Cross would accept such a donation.

Ok. Thanks for the suggestion.

Local schools or blind places. Blind organizations they may have a store but sometimes mobility instructors may be grateful to have an old cane someone can donate to give to a student in real dire need.

I make "glam canes" for my SO who is a blind performer, if they're still functional I'm happy to take them off your hands rather than buying new ones to decorate! DM me

How do you define functional? I have one that could be usable but it needs a new tip, and will need a bit of work to get the old one off. It's snapped off, and a fragment of the tip is still on it.

So long as the metal isn't irreparably damaged and the cord is intact I can probably service any other damage, replace tips, etc.
