So was going through the old posts about the differences between Talkback and VoiceOver and sorta thought it would be interesting to hear what people think has or hasn’t changed/improved with both in the last year or two.
I personally use a Pixel 4 with Android 12 and have noticed a lot of differences from what the old posts about Talkback say are issues, like they fixed the confused menus and worked on it feeling sluggish/clunky that people menttioned in some posts.

Been using android phones for years now caz my parents were extremely anty Apple. My first Samsung (can't remember the exact name) was garbitch, the huawei p20 light i had after that was pritty good till google was no longer alowd to work with them. After that i had a Samsung a5 witch was as good as the Huawei but the biggest improvement is the Samsung a52 i have now . They even included the braille keyboard. There are still some issues with it but man has it improved.

Yeah, as I mentioned I use a Pixel 4 which I love, I type entirely with the braille screen input keyboard,.

Interesting. I’m primarily an iOS user so my only exposure to talk back has been when trying to help my mom with her android and operating the touchscreen of our peloton bike. In either case, I found it less intuitive than voiceover but this was a couple years ago now and I also had almost no previous experience with it

Yeah well and third party devices do not always have the best experience with it cause they often have a wrapper on the OS. Have heard a lot of stories about bad android versions.

Same type of things maybe 5 years ago or more could be 6 or 7. Decided on a nexus device accidentally bought an even older version from what was current at the time, didn’t like the accessibility and I don’t think it was great back then. I think things have really improved on that side of things. I know people who love it. I decided android wasn’t for me. I gave my device to my sister and decided I was done with it.
Now I am more committed to tech and majorly in it I am thinking of picking it up and trying again. My main devices is apple iphone and apple mac for main primary devices and an ipad. I have other stuff right now like a chromebook and a surface and a hp windows 10 laptop.
So I don’t have very much experience.

I use iOS but pretty curious about things on the Android side. I've only used my partner's Samsung S10+ for short bursts and I don't mind TalkBack, but I'm personally not a fan of typing and the Braille keyboard. What do you like about using Android as a TalkBack user?

As far as Android goes I moved to it after the Windows Phone died because of the ability to customize it heavily. Stuck with it after losing my sight mainly because I was already familiar with it, but the customization is still a big plus for me. I use braille to type everything including all of this, and find it so much easier than trying to use VTT or Qwerty.
