LED Cane I saw at CSUN (self.Blind)
submitted by rumster
Hey guys,

Do any of you know who manufactures the completely lit up LED cane? My client would love to get one but I couldn't find it from googling and wondered if one of you good people might know the manufacturer.

That sounds sick! It would be like I was walking down the street with a light saber lol

Thats why I want to find it. My client really dug it at CSUN and thought it would be a great defensive tool too lol

Ha nice

I wasn’t at CSUN, but this reminded me of the $1. I know the creator lives in that area, so that could be what you’re talking about.

I wonder how difficult it would be to make it. So far every source I found is sold out.

Send me as many pics of it as you can get. I've got the machinist and engineering experience, many of the tools, and bored teenagers at home with nothing else to do.

No promises, but once I get the pics I can tell you if I can do it or not.

Will put it together for you

From the looks of the two videos on their website, it seems to be a rod of some sort of translucent white and red plastic. It doesn't seem to fold either, so the lighting source is probably in the handle. The cost isn't cheap, but it would be interesting to examine one to reverse engineer it. I can definitely see it being useful in the evening, although it not being able to fold would make it more difficult.

Oh okay I'm sorry

Probably self-made. I make my wife's canes all glittery! Another friend had her cane lit with christmas lights and a battery pack for New Years. Lots of cool ideas to play with

Pretty useful and stuff at night but yeah. One would wonder how much energy it would take though or battery unless it was like glow in the dark type of stuff.

What’s funny about this is, as someone who’s incredibly light sensitive, I would hate a LED cane. Wouldn’t want my own white cane to give me headaches. XD It probably looks cool, though, and you’d certainly be noticed.

I think its for a safety issue for some who walk at night.
