I was wrong about Apollo being the most accessible iOS app.(self.Blind)
submitted by Individual-Fan1639
I was under the impression that Apollo was absolutely the most accessible iOS application to use with voiceover, but this was until someone on this sub posted a link to get the better of Dystopia! Dystopia is literally the most accessible front end of any social networks I have found. It really is the small details that add up when you can customize exactly the information that is red by VoiceOver. You can edit the exact actions of the voiceover rotor and even the order they are in. You can customize exactly the information that is read by voice over when it comes to posts and also the comment section. You can have dystopia to break up a post into paragraphs and you are actually able to distinguish between links if there are multiple posted. I have made a recommendation in the Apollo sub Reddit for Christian to add these same features, but until he does, then dystopia is the best when it comes to voiceover and Reddit. Anyone else agree?

VaconReader hasn’t let me down yet

I either use bacon reader or dystopia both are really good but I have a slight preference with dystopia and the chats. You can’t chat with bacon reader. And it’s my suggestion the chat is here. Actually.

Just checked this out. This one is actually really good as well! I still think dystopia has it beat though. The only other application where I have seen that you can choose exactly the output from voiceover like dystopia has is with the app called “Lire”.

I agree by a bit yes. And there is no chat feature on bacon reader. Dystopia didn’t either until I said can you add it and suggested it should be worked on then it was. And thankfully dystopia is the only one with a chat feature. Very lovely to me. I use to be part of a community that did a lot of chats. And people would message me.

I am still rocking BaconReader as well. I think it has even improved over the last several months.
TechnicalPragmatist1 points1y ago
Yes!!!!!!! I quite agree with you, maybe not the most accessible social media app but it’s good and the best out of the reddit ones. And the only one you can chat on.

what exacbbtly are these apps for do they make reddit more accesible im curious
Individual-Fan1639 [OP]1 points1y ago
It’s basically just the front end of Reddit put into an app. It does inadvertently make it much more accessible though
LyingSlider71 points1y ago
In what ways does it make it more accessible also can I get a link to destiny I can’t find it on the App Store but I found Apollo also do you have to pay for these
TechnicalPragmatist1 points1y ago
Yes download test flight and here’s the dystopia link.
https://testflight.apple.com/join/4MJtN4FB
TechnicalPragmatist1 points1y ago
It makes it more voice over friendly and gesture based.
Yeah, dystopia isn’t on the app store it’s still in beta it has for years! So you would need to go through test flight I can see if I can find you the link.
Bacon reader is another good one and you can use it. And you can find bacon reader on the app store. Try it out for yourself!

Do either of them let you do mod stuff on them? The official app moved everything around so modding is annoying as sin now, and it broke mod mail for me for like 3 months, but as far as I can tell, bacon doesn't have it.
I'm so used to the official app that I haven't really tried any other apps, though. Would be nice to not have to share a post into safari to open links.
TechnicalPragmatist1 points1y ago
The reddit app is horrible compared to anything else you can do most modding for sure besides accept mod requests on reddit and stuff. Not sure about mod mail and how that works I modded a little but never really dealt with mod mail.
AllHarlowsEve1 points1y ago
It'd be nice to not have to count blank buttons to remove comments or approve posts. It'd also be nice to be able to open modmail without opening safari because the official app keeps deciding that I don't moderate any subreddits.
TechnicalPragmatist1 points1y ago
Uggggg! Sorry that sounds frustrating to the max and discouraging for you. I almost was going to mod a pretty big subredddit but the modding style of mine and the other mods were different and the sub kind of went to crap because of them too but now it’s a big sub that’s fairly busy.
In a way I am sort of glad because I have no time to mod and it would have been a huge job.and you’d have to remove and manage many users.
But yeah, that would really add challenges what you are describing.
I didn’t know you had to open safari for that but uggg! That’s frustrating that the native reddit client won’t recognize it. They coded it isn’t it suppose to? I’d talk to the admins and dev of reddit for sure. If you could mod on dystopia or bacon reader as well I would recommend those but not entirely sure.
AllHarlowsEve1 points1y ago
The official reddit app only sometimes recognizes I can access mod mail, but the majority of the time, it tells me "no." It keeps fixing itself randomly when I report the issue, and then I never end up figuring out what its issue is 😂 As far as I can tell, you can't mod with Bacon, but I haven't tried Dystopia yet.
ke7zum1 points1y ago
Yes you can mod with dystopia. I don't really have any details but I"ve seen discussions on the dystopia subreddit. I hope this helps a gbit.
bradley221 points1y ago
Unfortunately you can’t mod in dystopia.
ShadeOfNothing1 points1y ago
I know you can check modmail and the queue but I don’t know about anything else
CosmicBunny971 points1y ago
I do like Apollo but I'll check out Dystopia :)
Individual-Fan1639 [OP]1 points1y ago
How do you like it if you have had a chance to check it out? Make sure to check out the accessibility tab in settings.
