Stubborn tips (self.Blind)
submitted by redmarus
I've been using a reizen rigid cane with a slip on tip on (if I didn't the specifics correctly then feel free to hurt me and attack me) and having a really hard time getting the tips off.... My building handyman was able to remove the tip it came with last time I saw him, but now that I need to replace the tip again I'm fucked.... Even with pliers I can't get it off, my gay fail hands and wrists cannot deal with it and I'm becoming frustrated to the point where I'm ready to snap this thing over my knee and quit using canes entirely and never leave my house again.

Should I buy whole new cane with a hook tip, is there some kind of trick I don't know, or should I just give up on all life?

A hook tip may definitely be easier for you or even a threaded tip like the ones that come with the Ambutech slimline.

If a vice doesn’t help. Someone once suggested putting your cane with the tip in some hot water especially the end of it where the tip it and it may come off easier.

I think we should probably rule out giving up on life as an option for today! Haha

I've had one slip on cane and its stiff but I have the weakest wrists (embarrassingly, I injured them from too much crocheting) and can still get the tip off. Do you know for sure that there isnt anything wromg with the size of the tip? It just sounds a bit overly stubborn to me.

I use an NFB folding cane, getting the tip off is easy ish for me but I have pretty strong fingers. I just wait until it's time to change it then I fold the tip over the screw until it comes off and just line up the new one and it pops on. No issues.
