Are there any accessible video cameras? (self.Blind)
submitted by LimpAd6401
I post on tiktok, and I am planning on starting to post on YouTube. Currently I just use my phone. Is there any good high-quality recording cameras that are accessible for the blind. I’ve been looking at many cameras such as some by Canon and Sony. A lot of them seem to have touch menus that I’m not sure I will be able to navigate. If you know of one please let me know

As far as I know they all have on screen menus but I haven’t had enough vision to use one of them in many years so I don’t know. To the general public, the idea of a blind person needing a video camera to be accessible probably seems completely contradictory so I can’t imagine manufacturers put a lot of thought into the accessibility of those things. Obviously it is a genuine need and we do want to make videos just like anybody else, but I don’t think they understand that.

For what it’s worth, my understanding is that the video captured by iPhone and probably any decent android these days is super high-quality and likely suitable for any type of social media/YouTube content. Is there a particular capability or advantage you were hoping to gain by getting a dedicated camera?

I was hoping for better lens support, such as an ultra wide lens. So that I could capture a wide range in order to not have to worry about not ending up in shot. As well as WebCam support so I could plug it into my computer in order to use my microphone which is plugged into an interface alongside it

That makes sense and I know that struggle, lol. I come up with little tricks so that I can synchronize the audio recorded on my interface with the video footage. Since I’m picking up audio on my phone as well as my studio mic when I’m recording, I can use the two audio tracks to align everything and then just mute the phone audio that I don’t want

Thank you for the input

To my knowledge no. But could use be my eyes or alike to help you get through the settings and prep for shots

Yeah, I might give that a shot thank you

I have a Cannon, but I've decided to switch to my iPhone 12 Pro because of how good the quality is. It's also considerably more accessible because the camera app tells you when you're in frame or not. Would highly recommend doing that. You can also easily plug in a mic into the iPhone with either a USB adapter or with a mic that has a lightning connector, though the iPhone mics are already pretty good.
