Do you think entrepreneurship is the only viable way of making money for blind/VIP people in USA? (self.Blind)

I will partially agree with you in the fact that employees do not see where accessibility on devices make us almost as good as any other employee out there and a lot of them see us as a safety hazard to our own selves even though we might be perfect at navigating the world on our own.

But that said your state and your local lighthouse for the blind and a local blind vocational rehab counselor can get you a job and set you up for a proper future as a blind person and they do all of this for free. In fact your state will cover 100% your education for jobs that you may not even think you’re qualified for like a counselor or a therapist or a psychologist or something of that nature if you want to go that route.

I will also admit it is hard to find a job on your own as a blind individual

Hello there!

First, all of your personal experiences and reactions to those experiences are valid. No ifs ands or buts.

That said, I wanted to comment because those experiences aren’t universal in the blind community. I see a lot of young or newly blind people here recently, and I don’t want them to think they will only have the negative experiences you describe.

I’m blind since birth, and currently working in a clinical position in a major hospital system in the US. I have done a lot of proving myself, advocating and ignoring ignorance along the way to get here. Discrimination is very real, especially here in the medical field, but it is doable.

Follow and adapt those dreams, folks.

I’ve been able to get jobs despite being blind BUT!!! It’s always restaurant work. Specifically in bussing or dishwashing. This is because I insisted on trial shifts. Essentially, I do a shift for a low cash in hand and if I’m fast enough then they hire me. Worked about 3 out of 5 times. It’s absolutely impossible to get any other kind of job beyond crop picking or the above. I couldn’t even get entry level retail jobs beyond one before my sight went too bad.

I didn't read the whole thing but yes I agree with you 100%

Now there are some places that you can work at and do computer/application coding that might be a possibility but otherwise yeah I'm in the same situation you are
