My apologies, I didn't realize you already had a thread devoted to this. Thank you for your help!

Haard to answer such a question. I use technology for everything. Probably the best for me was when I got a talking apple 2 e way back in 1983. I've used talking computers since then for almost everything. Although others are, I'm not a big fan of toucch screen stuff such as Iphones. I'm also an active ham operater, got my novice ticket back in 1961 whhen I was in seventh grade. WA0VJR

technology has made things a lot easier. I can be just as lazy as anyone else and browse Reddit, go on YouTube, basically do whatever I want to do.

That's a very broad question but for a very broad answer, I do not know what blind people did before the internet. Different websites are easier or harder depending on how they're made, but overall it is just a huge resource of stuff which is at least a bit accessible, in a way that just didn't exist when everything was print.

That and smartphones. You can solve so much with smartphones. I tend to carry my phone, and a spare, and a power bank when I'm travelling. They're that essential even to the point of being an important safety tool.

oh and don't forget about home automation.
A friend of mine wanted to test if that would improve my life and boy does it. smartlights witch i can change to fit my needs, motionsensors who turn on the lights when i enter a room, alexa for all the callender, reminder, timer and my stupid questions and a homey to link it all and make it work.

I can't imagine any blind person finding progress as a whole a negative thing.
I'm astonished at the progress I've seen throughout my lifetime, and equally impressed with how those who came before me got where they did by having far fewer technological resources.

Things like OCR, refreshable braille, mass storage in tiny devices like SD cards, the GPS. the digitisation of government and public services. Audio-description on TV and streaming. shared online calendars. fitness trackers and smartwatches. Onlime everything - banking, shopping, general life. Gaming. Social media even - much of it is visual, but there are so many great VI-handy spaces (like this).
