Edit: I decided not to go for the job.
The money wasn’t worth it and it’s a zero hour contract. If you don’t know, the dying in the dark experience in London was set up originally by a guy in Paris, he then moved over here and his type of business idea has been popping up in quite a few countries.
What I’ll essentially be doing is guiding people into the room, sitting them at the table, explaining where things are, getting different meals for them, and I think that’s about it.The pay is kind of shit to be honest, £10 an hour with an additional £10 which is paid by the customers and that £10 is then split between the people, 40% four the cooks and 60% for the waiters, so from my understanding you might get an extra pound or two each customer, but that’s about it. I’m definitely going to be talking to them about this because I’ve worked it out to about £1000 a month and that wouldn’t even pay rent in London, even with the extra tip bits.
Granted we still keep Our PIP, a disability money thing, making the total around 1600 and something a month, but that wouldn’t cover other bills.
Having said all that, I’m looking forward to going there and speaking to them. I do honestly think I’m gonna sign up because even though I do think it’s a kind of, look at the pore blind people, think about how hard they must have it, kind of thing; i’d like to not be so cynical and give them a chance. Although I still love to know how people who are blind are paying for rent and other bills on a salary of around £1000 a month minus the PIP.
