So I'm visually impaired, not blind. I've been losing my vision for a few years now. I've noticed a new habit and I'm curious if any of you guys relate. I get around my house very well, even if it's pitch black and super messy. I don't need any light to do most things in my home. But I keep finding myself leaving a light near me on, all the time, except sleeping. Even if I don't need it. Listening to music, watching videos, taking meds, whatever. It doesn't matter. I just feel better with a light on even if I'm not using it and I don't know why.
I was kind of hoping it's not just me lol. I don't know why.

I have light perception on3 eye complete blind other and even though the light sometimes hurts my eye I still turn one on when I enter a room. It's a comfort thing

Oh I turn lights on where I am as well. I am blind and have light perception. It’s a comfort thing for me. Same goes for computer monitors. I have no use for them, but I like to have one on when I use my computer.

I do this too for most things though I have my phone screen off cause why waste the battery if I don’t have to, not like I can see the screen anyway lol, I have LP but not straight on.

Interesting, I hadn't considered the computer monitor thing. I still use mine, but I can't imagine not turning one on when using the computer. A comfort thing is a good description. It relaxes me to have it. I'll even keep a light on when I have a headache. I might cover my eyes, but I keep the light on lol!

Me too!
Can comfortably navigate in dark, but, having light just gives more confidence.
Also, while using more and more screen readers, I've began to ignore visual information. Lol! Just few months ago, I shared a song, a good song, with a friend. What I didn't realize that the song had an album art containing some adult content, and if I knew that, I wouldn't have shared it. Lol! I just hope she didn't think about me in any wrong manner.

I like lighting as an aesthetic - accent lights, lamps, up-lighting, etc. I've sometimes wondered if that's because of my vision loss - they're easy to see.

I am pretty pragmatic and don’t need it so usually don’t do this and don’t think about it the funny thing was I did a self development interview once and the person said oh yeah, I removed the video because it got dark and we didn’t see anything anyway partway through so let’s take it out hahaha! Ooops! Yes pragmatist forgot to turn on lights again.
