Just some feedback for users and helpers of the Be My Eyes application based on my own experiences...
One - Sometimes we may not have context which may lead to confusion. As an example, providing back of packet cooking directions for a product you may not want to eat. I provided cooking directions to an elderly lady for Fajitas. After I hung up, I realized she may not know the mix she was cooking is supposed to go in the middle of Fajita wraps.
Two - Super funny, make sure the environment is light. I have been asked to try and read documents in the dark.
Three - Lastly, a feature of iPhone and Androids is a concept called foreground and background applications. Our phones can run many applications simultaneously but the app you see on your screen is the foreground application and that is also is the app that controls the camera. All the other applications are in the background hidden from the screen.
There is the action on an iPhone to swipe up and scroll left and right to choose the application to want to see and use and this makes the application move to the foreground. A feature of the Be My Eyes application is that it only works in Foreground. If you accidentally move it to background, we can still talk, but the camera we use to see what you want to show us is disabled since the new foreground application may use it. The Be My Eyes application has to be running in Foreground for the camera to work.

Thank you! There seems to be so many helpers, the actual number of calls any one helper gets seems to be minimal. I think one a week to one every two weeks is normal for me.

You can turn on a flashlight i believe if that helps, for future reference?

Absolutely - What happened to be recently was the Be My Eyes application to background so I could not help. Once the app moves to background, nothing we can do to assist.

I thought you could enable the user's flashlight from your end.

Yes you/we can! Still can be difficult in low light as flashlights only illuminate a small area and are very directional.

Another tip for Helpers - If the video looks grainy and you are having a hard time reading, use the take picture feature of Be My Eyes and the picture will be high quality.

The light tip is good. I did an interview thing with someone it was this self-development hobby typology related. The good part is coming. Hahaha! So we did the entire interview. Then later he wrote up something because we arranged it. He noted I am taking out the video because it later got dark and we couldn’t see anything. Hahaha! I forgot about lights and we did the video during late afternoon or early evening. When we begun there was still light then after a while it got dark and then because I didn’t turn on lights and don’t usually no one could see anything.
So yes good point.
